What a compelling painting! One of Australia's ever present realities. Drawing inspiration from photographic images taken of the recent terrifying bushfires in Victoria. Hoping never to be confronted with such an "end of days" scenario, Di felt drawn by the power of the scenes and how small we are in the scheme of things when mother nature rages.
This painting while disturbing is awe inspiring. Tall, at 152cm, so as to capture the vertical scale of these fires. Definitely a piece to stimulate conversation and invite contemplation of our place in this sunburnt country.
